It was a superb sunny day!
WOW!!! Tremblant is soo nice right now… The rain episode is mostly gone by now. We still have to be careful in some spots that has harder/bumpier base under the snow from the last few days (Soleil & South mostly). But overall it is great. I’ll say we’re having typical mid-winter snow conditions for this area.
All the people that we spoke today were having a great time here. PLUS, there are not a lot of people on the slopes. We had lunch at «Le Shack» where it was quite busy and fun.
Today we rode all sides of the mountain (Edge, Soleil, North & South) and it was amazing everywhere. We specially had a blast in some of our «secret spots». The only two down sides I see nowadays:
1) Chairlifts breaking down and having people stuck for periods of 5 to 15 minutes (I suggest you don’t go on the Duncan Express or Soleil chair improperly dressed!).
2) Local spots getting tracked sooner than before… Probably due in part to some people around here being way too «informative» about it!
I had a chat today with a group of local telemarkers that are really mad about the situation here that some people are not respecting some «unwritten laws» on the mountain. We understand that most want to have a taste of the stashes but don’t be surprised if you go in the woods and find locals being not too happy/friendly about your encounter. It’s not a good attitude but when you’ve been riding a mountain for a long time (28 years in my case), you sometimes get emotional about it. Imagine for telemarkers that have been around here for over 35 years… We don’t own anything around here but we work hard to keep a few fresh tracks to ourselves.
We are very exited about this possible storm coming up for the Tremblant region… Friday should be killer with possible snow accumulation of 20-25 cm. Let’s stay positive that precipitations stay on the solid side!
